Oil pastels are one of Kathryn’s preferred media. She is drawn to their ability to be both blended and scratched away, creating rich texture and depth. Working primarily in figurative art, she uses oil pastels to exaggerate natural colour, particularly in portraiture, and to evoke an eerie, dream-like atmosphere.
